The College of Science community saw the need for a multi-purpose room for lectures, classes, and as yet undetermined learning methodologies in a future hyper-wired world. CDG designed the space and developed various media technology strategies to fill it. CDG's Doug Cain conceived a next generation interactive technology system that could be multifunctional and future adaptive: the soft smart screen system. See NEWS: TUI
This system is composed of a cheap kinect sensor connected to a digital projector and server displaying a 9ft x 16ft screen. It's controlled by hand or body gestures in front of it. The screen can be split to show collaborative web work along with videoconferencing. Future applications for new learning methodologies can be installed in the server.
